Dental Bonding

Cosmetic flaws like slightly misshapen or discolored teeth can take a toll on our self-esteem and make it difficult to smile.

Dental bonding can transform your appearance by concealing a broad range of cosmetic dental concerns.

Here's how Victor R. Siegel, DDS in Rockville, MD, can help...

Preparing for Cosmetic Bonding WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION

Determine Candidacy

During your initial consultation with Dr. Siegal at our Rockville, MD, office, we can determine if you're a good candidate for bonding. If we decide that dental bonding is not the best option for you, our team can recommend an alternative treatment to achieve your goals.

Discuss Cosmetic Goals

During your first meeting with Dr. Siegel you can discuss your specific goals and work together to create a custom treatment plan. If you would like to combine dental bonding with any other cosmetic procedures, your dentist can inform you of your options and help you choose which will work best for you.

Address Existing Health Concerns

Before you can undergo this dentistry treatment, Dr. Siegel will need to address any current oral health problems, such as tooth decay or gum disease. After appropriate care, you may be an excellent candidate for bonding, even if you have fillings or a history of periodontitis.

The Dental Bonding Treatment

During this cosmetic dentistry procedure, Dr. Siegel can use composite resin to conceal chips, gaps, and discolored teeth. The tooth-colored resin can blend seamlessly with your other teeth for natural-looking results.

Bonding typically takes only 30 to 60 minutes for each tooth.
Bonding typically takes only 30 to 60 minutes for each tooth.

Etch Tooth

First, Dr. Siegal may lightly etch the surface of the affected tooth. The etching isn't visible to the naked eye and won't damage the structure of your tooth.

Coat Tooth

Your dentist will then coat your tooth with a conditioning liquid that helps the bonding adhere. The composite resin bonding material will be applied, then molded and smoothed into the shape you desire.

Harden Material

Once your dentist has finished sculpting the resin, he will use a curing light to harden the bonded material.

Polish

The surface of your bonded tooth is then polished to give it a realistic finish that helps it blend in with the rest of your teeth.

This dental treatment typically takes 30 to 60 minutes for each tooth and can be completed in a single dental appointment at our Rockville office.

Anesthesia isn't typically necessary unless your dentist has to make dramatic changes or if your tooth is chipped near the nerve.

Why Choose Dental Bonding?

Cosmetic bonding does not involve significant alteration of your teeth, meaning it is non-invasive and reversible. In addition, dental bonding is a very efficient, comfortable process.

Many patients choose dental bonding over other cosmetic dentistry treatments like veneers because dental bonding is conservative and affordable, yet still produces dramatic results. For example, if you want to enjoy the effects of veneers, but are watching your budget, bonding is a cost-effective alternative.

I'm new in the area and chose Dr Siegel on a recommendation. I'm glad I did! I was greeted immediately, temperature taken and moved to a treatment area in less than 5 minutes. Dr Siegal performed the most thorough exam I've ever had. He explained every step and what it meant.
