Are You a Candidate for Dentures?

Partial dentures are usually appropriate if you are missing more than three adjacent teeth. If you need to replace fewer teeth, a smaller bridge will typically be sufficient.  If you only have a couple remaining teeth or have suffered complete tooth loss, we will recommend a full denture.  These restorations can replace a full upper arch, lower arch, or both. Both full and partial dentures are available as traditional removable or fixed, implant-supported restorations. Your particular restorative needs, goals, and financial options will determine which type of denture is most suitable for you.

Designing and Fitting Your Dentures

Dr. Siegel and his team will work meticulously to ensure that your dentures have a natural fit and appearance. Your treatment will begin with a thorough consultation, at which time you will discuss your aesthetic and functional goals. Dr. Siegel will then take impressions of your gums, as well as your remaining teeth, and will send these molds to our dental lab. Experienced ceramists will then create a prosthetic that is a near-perfect match to your smile.

Traditional removable dentures have a plastic base that will fit around your gums. The ceramists will choose a color that blends seamlessly with the shade of your soft tissues. They will also select a color of material that corresponds with your smile to replace your teeth. After crafting the prosthetic, they can polish the material to provide a natural sheen.

If you choose implant-supported dentures, Dr. Siegel will collaborate both with the lab and with your oral surgeon. After you have healed from dental implants surgery, he can attach your prosthetic. Implant-supported dentures do not have a plastic base and, instead, will rest right against your gums. During your consultation, we can review your treatment timeline for dental implants and dentures to ensure you feel confident in our services.

Your dentures can help you to speak more clearly and precisely. With your restored, aesthetic smile and full oral function, your self-confidence could soar.

Benefits of Dentures

All types of dentures can greatly enhance your quality of life. Your prosthetic will improve your appearance. It can fill the gaps in your smile and support your lips and cheeks, rejuvenating your whole face.  Your denture can also restore your ability to bite and chew normally. You may find that you can enjoy a much wider range of foods. In addition, your dentures can help you to speak more clearly and precisely. With your restored, aesthetic smile and full oral function, your self-confidence could soar.

An implant-supported denture will provide additional benefits, particularly for your overall oral health. The fixed prosthetic will not slip out of place, allowing you to enjoy a greater range of foods. Implant-supported dentures also provide a remarkably lifelike appearance because they do not require a large plastic base or adhesive for support.  Finally, the implant posts will prevent jawbone recession, protecting your facial contours and preventing further tooth loss. You will not have to worry about having dentures relined or replaced to match your changes in jaw and gum shape.
