Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are a versatile cosmetic dentistry option that can be used to conceal a variety of dental imperfections - from chips and cracks to discolorations and slight misalignments. We can correct the appearance of a single tooth by placing one veneer, or perform a comprehensive smile makeover by placing veneers on several teeth. Although they are extremely thin, porcelain veneers are highly durable and resistant to staining. They also blend in well with surrounding teeth because the porcelain mimics the appearance of natural tooth enamel.
Placement of Porcelain Veneers
The placement of porcelain veneers typically requires two visits to our office. During your first appointment, we will discuss, in detail, your expectations and desires for your teeth, and select a style of veneer to match those desires – right down to the shape, color, and translucency. We will also prepare your teeth for the veneers and take impressions of the area. These impressions will be sent to a dental laboratory where your veneers will be crafted. Some patients also choose to undergo gum contouring in order to improve the balance of their smile and make room for the veneers. Over the next several weeks, a highly qualified ceramicist will prepare your porcelain veneers according to your exact specifications. While your permanent veneers are being made, you can wear a set of temporary composite veneers.
When your porcelain veneers are ready, you will return to our office, and we will check the fit and color of each veneer to make sure they look great. If they meet your expectations and goals, we will then bond them to your teeth, resulting in a beautiful smile makeover.
LUMINEERS® by CERINATE®
LUMINEERS® by CERINATE® are an exciting development in cosmetic dentistry technology. Conventional porcelain veneers require the removal of some tooth structure to accommodate the thickness of the veneers. However, razor-thin LUMINEERS® don’t require any removal of the tooth’s natural structure, anesthetic injections, or drilling. While they are extremely thin, LUMINEERS® are made with the strength of patented CERINATE® porcelain and can last for more than 20 years with proper care. The procedure is also reversible; because the original tooth structure is still intact, LUMINEERS® veneers can be removed at any time. Also, because the tooth structure is still whole and protecting the tooth roots and nerves, there is a low risk of pain after the procedure.
The placement of LUMINEERS® will take just two appointments. During your first appointment, we will take an impression of your teeth without removing any tooth structure. The impression will be sent to the CERINATE® Smile Design Studios, where your porcelain veneers will be created specifically to meet your individual needs. You will return to our office when your LUMINEERS® are ready to be placed. After lightly buffing the surface of your teeth, we will apply your new LUMINEERS® and bond them using a special curing light.
LUMINEERS® may not be the right option for all patients, so we encourage you to schedule an appointment with Dr. Siegel today find out if they are the right choice for you.
