Dental Exams

Many of us haven't made a habit of visiting a dentist every six months, but it's never too late to start.

Oral health problems can begin without warning and quickly become serious, expensive problems without regular checkups.

Victor R. Siegel, DDS, in Rockville, MD, goes above and beyond to make "routine" dental exams a personalized and valuable experience.

Comprehensive Dental Exams With a Personal Touch

You'll notice a difference right away when you come in for a dental exam at the practice of Victor R. Siegel, DDS. This isn't just a routine for us - it's an opportunity to help you experience all the invaluable benefits of a healthy and beautiful smile.

If you are a new patient seeking dental care, our dentist will spend an hour getting to know you as a person as well as understanding your oral health.

If you are one of our returning patients, this is an opportunity to reconnect. We'll also track how your mouth and oral health have changed since our last visit. With our digital records system, we document your oral health from visit to visit and detect changes that might otherwise be missed.

Is Anxiety Delaying Needed Care?

Do you delay dental appointments because they make you anxious? Dr. Siegel in Rockville, MD, offers oral conscious sedation so you can get timely dental care without the stress.

Comprehensive Oral Examinations

At the office of Dr. Victor Siegel, new patients are seen by the doctor first. A comprehensive evaluation and detailed consultation will give Dr. Siegel a chance to get to know you, understand your concerns and oral health needs, and build a long-lasting relationship. Dr. Siegel's patients appreciate that he listens to them and takes the time to understand their dental conditions.

Why Are Checkups so Important?

Catch Problems Early

Even if you take exceptional care of your teeth with regular brushing and flossing, you still need to see a dentist regularly. These visits give our dentists the opportunity to discover problems that you may not see or feel. Many oral health problems don't cause pain or become visible until they are at an advanced stage. Using the advanced technology available at our dental practice in Rockville, MD, we can identify problems early so they can be treated with less invasive techniques.

Set Goals

Each exam gives us an opportunity to set goals. Some people want to learn which cosmetic procedures are appropriate for them. Others may have problems with TMJ disorders, misalignment of their teeth, or concerns about future health problems, such as impacted wisdom teeth. Instead of waiting until a dental issue turns into a problem that needs immediate attention, our dentist can create a custom treatment plan so you can resolve issues as early and conservatively as possible.

"Amazing!"

"Dr. V. Siegel, Thank you for your kindness! I am very happy and appreciative for all you have done for me over the years at your practice. Yet you have done it again! Since 2010! And the tooth looks amazing!" Angela Stinney

"The results have been phenomenal."

What to Expect During Your Dental Checkup

A dental exam at our Rockville, MD, dentistry practice is one of the most affordable ways to keep a healthy smile. Dr. Siegel usually takes about an hour to get to know you, your needs, and what brought you to our office. If Dr. Siegel identifies any oral health issues during your examination, he will explain these issues and your treatment options.  A typical exam consists of:

Dentist patient

Dental Cleaning

One of our highly trained dental hygienists will perform a dental cleaning using gentle and effective techniques to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth. We will then polish your teeth with a special toothpaste. If we find places you are missing in your daily brushing and flossing, we'll offer tips so you can avoid the buildup of plaque.

Dental xray

X-Rays

Our dentistry practice uses digital X-rays, which are safer and faster than traditional X-rays. These digital images allow us to identify issues like tooth decay early, before they become a problem. Left untreated, a cavity can allow bacteria to infect the root canal, causing extreme pain. With early detection, you'll only need a filling instead of a root canal treatment and a dental crown to protect the tooth after treatment.

Visual Exam

Dr. Siegel will check your gums, teeth, and other soft tissues for any signs of complications such as gum disease. He will also check your bite and jaw joints for signs of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.

velscope

Oral Cancer Screening

Dr. Siegel also uses VELscope® technology to perform oral cancer screenings during dental exams. This device uses fluorescence to highlight cancerous lesions that might not be visible to the naked eye.
