Invisalign® is an orthodontic technique that allows me to use clear, plastic liners that people hardly know you're wearing to create or recapture a beautiful smile. Often adults who had braces as kids, for whatever reason, stopped wearing their retainers, and get orthodontic relapse where they have crowding or spacing. This can make cleaning between their teeth very difficult. Most of the cases I treat with Invisalign® are from about eight to 14 months. Those more difficult cases can take up to two years. But by and large, around a year is the norm for treatment. Invisalign® is a pretty comfortable technique. If patients feel anything it will be on the first two or three - usually the first day of a new aligner there may be some snugness in the aligner as it's attempting to move teeth into the next phase of the treatment. But what patients tell me is that after about a day, the aligners become quite comfortable and any discomfort is gone. A lot of our patients who finish Invisalign® treatment can't believe, when I show them the photos of where they started, the result, because it is a gradual technique. But when you put the before and after photos in front of the patient, all they're saying is, "Wow."
